An Electrified
Future is Here
With a family of sophisticated hybrids designed to fit all types of lifestyles – and the all-electric Prologue SUV arriving in 2024 – Honda continues to innovate its way toward a 100% zero tailpipe emission lineup in North America by 2040 and global carbon neutrality by 2050.
$1.38B Invested in Canada
Upgrading our award-winning manufacturing plants in Alliston, Ontario is allowing us to introduce new technology, train talented people, and retool manufacturing systems that’ll help facilitate Honda Canada's large-scale electric and hybrid car output goals.
At Honda, we focus on bringing joy and freedom of mobility through the development of environmentally-conscious energy. That’s why we’ve introduced hybrids in our Civic, Accord, and CR-V lineups. And why we’re continuing to push for a fully-electric, zero tailpipe emission future.
In hybrid vehicles, gas and electricity work together to deliver a more fuel-efficient ride. While driving, the electric motor uses power from the battery to drive the wheels, which in turn reduces the internal combustion engine’s “workload”. And the battery constantly recharges through energy created from braking, called “regenerative braking”. Ultimately, this generates 27-35% less greenhouse gas emission and can save you money at the pump*.
All-electric cars not only completely eliminate the need for gas but they’re also quiet, reliable, and fun to drive, as they offer a near-instant acceleration. Plus, charging can be conveniently done at home or through a growing network of charging stations.
Honda’s hybrid and electric vehicles have as many benefits as a road is long. Here are just a few.
Low Emissions
Hybrids help you reduce your driving tailpipe emissions while going full-electric eliminates them completely. Plus, with a Honda, you’re also part of our effort to eliminate all our tailpipe emissions in North America by 2040.
Savings
Hybrid and electric vehicles help you save on gas* or eliminate its need, respectively, and can potentially offer benefits like HOV lane access eligibility, rebates for vehicles and home chargers, tax credits, and more. The 2024 Honda Prologue qualifies for the federal iZEV rebate up to a $5000*, conditions and exclusions apply, please speak to your dealer for more details.
Convenience
As opposed to conventional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles, electric motors require little or no maintenance, as there is no need for oil changes or engine air filter replacements. Plus, EV charging can conveniently be done while the vehicle is parked at home.
Instant Torque
Hybrid vehicles and Battery Electric Vehicles use electric motors, which offer instant torque* at 0 rpm. Once the throttle is engaged, acceleration occurs instantly, offering an exciting acceleration experience from the moment you first step on the pedal. And when paired with the precision steering of a Honda, you’ll feel like you’re in total command of your drive.
Design
Honda stays true to its core design values by adhering to a driver-centric approach. The interior of each Honda strikes the perfect balance between function and beauty while placing everything in service of the driver. You can find this philosophy at work in our current lineup of electrified vehicles, including the all-new Accord Hybrid, which features steering wheel-mounted deceleration selectors that let you control the regenerative braking without taking your hands off the wheel. You’ll also see it in the all-new CR-V Hybrid, which combines battery-charging and power-output information into a single, easy-to-read power metre.
Hybrids help you reduce your driving tailpipe emissions while going full-electric eliminates them completely. Plus, with a Honda, you’re also part of our effort to eliminate all our tailpipe emissions in North America by 2040.
The high-voltage lithium-ion batteries that power our electrified vehicles have been engineered to provide a reliable, long-term, cost-effective experience.
Pre-production model shown.Integrating the all-electric Prologue into your lifestyle is simple thanks to three different charging levels that are sure to energize all your adventures. Included with your Prologue is a portable charging cable with 120V and 240V adapters, allowing you to charge via a standard three-pronged home outlet (120V AC), or a 4-pronged NEMA 14-50 outlet (240V AC) at limited speeds.
Level 1 charging uses a standard 120-volt home electrical outlet, compatible with your portable charging cable. Simply plug your charger directly into a wall outlet and draw power from your home.
Driving a Prologue is even more convenient when you charge at home with a Level 2 charger. Home installation allows drivers to charge their Prologue at their convenience and start every morning with a charge. We highly recommend speaking to a certified installer who will help you understand all the requirements and the best home connector type for your needs.

Whether you’re doing a short commute or a cross-country tour, Canada’s growing network of charging stations will help get your there.
Pre-production model shown. We aim to have as little impact on the environment as possible by recycling materials from our batteries. We harvest metals and components from our electrified-vehicle batteries whenever possible and repurpose them in other products. This allows us to reuse valuable materials and reduce waste.
Designed to help our dealers reduce the environmental impact of their operations and lower their energy costs, the Honda Canada Green Dealer Recognition Award puts the spotlight on dealers who go the extra mile toward decreasing their environmental impact.
Today, we continue to innovate our way toward a 100% zero tailpipe emission car lineup in North America by 2040. And, with our Triple Zero approach, we aim to achieve carbon neutrality, resource circulation, and clean energy goals across our business operations by 2050.

What are some of the benefits of an electric vehicle (EV)?
Electric vehicles (EVs) are powered by electricity from a rechargeable battery, as opposed to an internal combustion engine, which means they produce zero tailpipe emissions. And, because their motors are electric, they offer a far more quiet cabin.
Also, the simplified drivetrain in an EV gives engineers more flexibility to design a spacious interior for both drivers and passengers.
Would my routine need to change in order to own an EV?
One important adjustment to your life will be remembering to plug your Prologue into a Level 1 or Level 2 charger overnight at home. When you do need to charge while on the road, some quick planning can help you determine which public charging station best fits your road trip and, for added convenience, which has amenities near it so you can shop, eat, or run errands while your Prologue charges.
How much maintenance is required for an EV?
The maintenance on an EV is less than you may think. EVs do not require scheduled oil changes, for example, but will still need regular service on items like tire rotations, alignments, and air filter changes. The Prologue will also need to have its battery, electric motor, and cooling system inspected according to a maintenance schedule.
What if I want to take a road trip?
Planning ahead and checking what charging options are available en route to your destination can help ensure the best road trip experience possible. Finding the charging stations that will be available on your drive through mobile apps can help optimize your charging and keep you on track to arrive at your destination on time. Many public charging stations are now located near restaurants and shopping malls, so you can time your charging with meals or stretch your legs while you wait.

Do most people charge at home?
Yes. Driving a Prologue is even more convenient when you charge at home with a Level 2 charger. Home installation allows drivers to charge their Prologue at their convenience and start every morning with a charge. It’s also more cost-effective than public charging stations. We highly recommend speaking to a certified installer who will help you understand all the requirements and the best home connector type for your needs. Learn more about electric vehicle chargers.
How much does it cost to install a charger and how long does it take?
Installation costs vary depending on the electrical system and the type of installation. We highly recommend speaking to a certified installer who will help you understand all the requirements and the best home connector type for your needs.
