Not only is the 2013 Accord more thrilling to drive than ever, it’s also our most fuel-efficient Accord yet. The reason? It’s the first Honda in North America to feature our revolutionary Earth Dreams™ powertrain technology applied to an all-new generation of engines and transmissions. The engines now have reduced friction and weight and improved torque, while the available transmissions enhance acceleration and responsiveness through improvements such as wider ratios and sporty shift programming. Together, they offer improved fuel efficiency and fun-to-drive performance, all of it born from our desire to protect the environment and deliver an unforgettable driving experience.

2.4-Litre, 4-Cylinder, Direct Injection
i-VTEC® Engine

The Accord’s 2.4-litre, 4-cylinder, direct injection i-VTEC® engine is one of the first production applications of Earth Dreams™ technology. It allows for better combustion and features new friction-reducing technologies designed to improve overall engine and fuel efficiency, as well as a lighter weight design. The direct injection system and other technologies combine to create a higher performance output, giving the Accord as much as 189 horsepower and 182 lb.-ft of torque. Ultimately, you get significantly improved fuel economy and greatly enhanced driving pleasure.

Continiously Variable Transmission

The 2013 Accord features the option of a continuously variable transmission (CVT) with a new G-Design shift logic design unique to Honda. This allows the CVT to respond quickly to driver demands, providing an exhilarating sporty drive with superior acceleration. And with the available paddle shifters, gear changes will seem even more responsive.

6-Speed Manual Transmission

For those who want total control, the Accord features the option of a 6-speed manual transmission. Lightweight and compact, the manual transmission has been engineered to deliver state-of-the-art performance and shift action with reduced internal friction, tighter internal tolerances and improved synchronizers. All this combines for a feeling of exhilaration with every shift of the gears.

3.5-Litre, 6-Cylinder
i-VTEC® Engine

The Accord’s 3.5-litre, SOHC i-VTEC® V6 engine features a range of improvements with the same exhilarating performance you expect from Honda. Along with increased horsepower, the engine consumes less fuel while delivering an improved low and mid-range output thanks to the available advanced Variable Cylinder Management® (VCM®) system (automatic transmission only) and VTEC system. New for this year, the VCM system operates with 3 cylinders in a wider range of situations to maximize fuel efficiency and with 6 cylinders when greater power is needed. All of these new engine features add up to less fuel and more fun.

6-Speed Automatic Transmission

The Accord’s available 6-speed automatic transmission comes in a more compact package, reducing weight and improving driving performance. Its additional gear ratio contributes to enhanced acceleration and even better fuel economy.

Introducing LaneWatch™ blind spot display

The 2013 Accord is our first model to introduce LaneWatch™, an available Honda-exclusive feature, that provides an enhanced view of your passenger’s side blindspot. A camera mounted on the passenger side mirror increases your viewing angle up to approximately 80 degrees, allowing you to see two lanes of traffic from as far as 50 metres behind on your dashboard i-MID screen. The feature also lets you spot smaller objects like small children, bicycles and motorcycles when changing lanes or making right turns. It’s yet another innovative feature from Honda to help you enjoy a better drive.

The available Lane Departure Warning (LDW) system* is yet another new Honda innovation, and the Accord is first to feature it. Using an onboard camera, the system monitors your driving behaviour and your vehicle position, employing audible and visual alerts to tell you if you’re drifting too far out of your lane when you don’t have your turn signal on. Now you can enjoy even more peace of mind with every drive.

Forward Collision
Warning System

The available Forward Collision Warning (FCW) system* is a revolutionary feature new to Honda. The system uses an onboard camera to determine if the gap between you and the vehicle ahead is closing too quickly. If you’re approaching with too much speed, the system uses audible and visual alerts so you can reduce your speed. In the Accord, it’s that much easier to stay aware of what’s ahead of you.

Standard on the Accord, the 8” i-MID (intelligent Multi-Information Display) LED backlit LCD TFT display ensures you’ll never be out of the loop. This full-colour, interactive, customizable display gives you all the information you need about many of the Accord’s features, including HondaLink, HandsFreeLink-bilingual Bluetooth mobile phone interface, and rearview camera*. You can have your text messages and emails read out to you and then choose from six available pre-set replies. It also keeps you updated on important driving information like your fuel efficiency and trip range. Simply put, the i-MID is home to almost everything you need when you’re on the road.
